Install FlowOS™
Installing takes a few minutes. You’ll need administrator rights on Windows.
Install on Windows
- Close FlowOS™ if an earlier version is running.
- Run
the FlowOS™ setup file. Windows asks for permission and should name Tomar Electronics, Inc. as the publisher. If it names anyone else, stop and contact TOMAR support. - Approve the prompt. Administrator rights are required because FlowOS™ is installed for every user of the computer. Running it afterwards needs no special rights.
- Accept the install location (
C:\Program Files\Tomar\FlowOSby default) and pick the desktop shortcuts you want. The Quick Start and User Manual are added to the Start menu either way. - Finish. The last page offers to open the Quick Start, open the User Manual and start FlowOS™.
Upgrading from an earlier version
Run the new installer over your current installation. There’s no need to uninstall first, and nothing is lost.
Add/Remove Programs will show the version going from 6.0 to . That’s expected: OSPsoft VI 6.0 was renamed FlowOS™ and the version number restarted. It is an upgrade.
Unattended installation for IT teams
The installer accepts the standard Inno Setup switches. A silent install skips the offers to open the documents and start the app.

Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps → FlowOS → Uninstall, or use Start → FlowOS → Uninstall FlowOS. Your accounts, licence and device list are kept so a reinstall picks up where you left off. The Quick Start explains how to remove everything.
If Windows blocks the installer
On Windows 11 with Smart App Control turned on, a new build can be blocked even though it is correctly signed. You may see “An Application Control policy has blocked this file.”
Don’t turn Smart App Control off. Turning it back on means reinstalling Windows. Contact TOMAR support instead. Managed fleets can allow-list by signer, using the hashes under Verify your download.
What gets installed
The app, a FlowOS™ Start-menu group, and the Quick Start and User Manual as PDFs. The program file is named OSPsoftVI.exe on purpose: changing it would strand the licences and accounts of existing installations.
Install on macOS
- Open
the FlowOS™ disk imagefrom your Downloads folder. - Drag FlowOS.app onto the Applications folder shown in the window.
- Eject the disk image and start FlowOS™ from Applications or Launchpad.
Uninstalling
Drag FlowOS.app from Applications to the Trash. Your data stays in ~/Library/Containers/com.tomar.ospsoftvi/, so reinstalling picks up where you left off.
The key that protects your local user accounts is in your login keychain. Deleting it makes those accounts permanently unreadable, with no recovery, so only remove it if you mean to wipe the installation.
If macOS shows a warning
If macOS says FlowOS™ “cannot be checked for malicious software,” contact TOMAR support. Don’t override the warning.
Windows-only features
Serial-port device features need Windows. Everything that connects over the network works on both.
First run: activate and log in
- Start FlowOS™. It opens on the Licence Activation screen until a licence is active.
- Paste your licence key and select Activate, or choose the 30-day demo. Activation needs an internet connection. Some features aren’t available in the demo, and you can activate a licence from Settings at any time.
- Log in with the default administrator user name and password. These are emailed to the purchaser with the licence key and are never published. Missing that email? Contact TOMAR support.
- Choose a new password. FlowOS™ requires it before letting you in: at least 14 characters, including a lower-case letter, an upper-case letter, a digit and a special character.

- Network: your computer must be able to reach your devices on their configured ports. Connections are secured with TLS or SSH.
- Internet: needed to activate your licence and for periodic licence checks. FlowOS™ works offline in between.
Verify your download
Every file in FlowOS™ is code-signed by TOMAR Electronics, Inc. IT teams can confirm a download matches the published SHA-256 before allow-listing it.
